Interestingly, the videogame series is based on the popular anime series .hack, which is itself about a popular videogame series. The Speed Demos Archive hosts .hack competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game Infection speedrun is 2 hours and 28 minutes, achieved by Steven "Master ZED" Ellis on May 14th, 2006.
