.hack// Infection Part 1 is a RPG released in February of 2003 by CyberConnect2 for the Playstation 2. Interestingly, the videogame series is based on the popular anime series .hack, which is itself about a popular videogame series. The actual videogame series continued in three parts: Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine.

The Speed Demos Archive hosts .hack competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game Infection speedrun is 2 hours and 28 minutes, achieved by Steven "Master ZED" Ellis on May 14th, 2006.
