The '''2008 Elite Summer Contest''' is known as ''Viewer's Choice Edition''. 2009 differs from the previous six [[Elite Summer Contest]]s in that:
* The bracket was selected and seeded entirely by nominations ballots cast by the Elite community- there was no selection committee behind the choices as there always had been in the past.
* The tournament will return to the traditional 1v1, 64 player format, unlike [[2008 Elite Summer Contest|2008]]'s experiment with 4-way battles.
