Speedrun on this stage make use of a glitch that allows for impossibly fast times compared to the intended way to play the stage.
As most players know, if you kill yourself with the rocket launcher, you will leave behind a coin. It is possible, however, to leave behind more than one coin when you kill yourself. This is done by killing yourself while falling off of a ledge.

Keeping this in mind, there are three ledges for this that are useful. There are the two ramps in the small buildings(the interior of one is blue and the other is red), and there is the ramp in the large building in the middle of the stage. The ramps in the small buildings are the most useful and easiest to take advantage of.

Now to the glitch. What you want to do is move up a ramp a little ways, face sideways and move backwards off of the side of the ramp while looking down. As you just begin to fall, kill yourself with a triple rocket. If you did it right, you will leave behind more than one coin. Exactly how many coins you leave behind depends on what you did when you killed yourself.
