Killing the 2 guards is barely enough to make a 8 boost 21 possible on Agent. Once you left the hut, the table and the cabinets are unloaded so they are irrelevant to lag. The guards chase after you though. If the guards are not alive, not running their AI scripts saves a very small amount of time.

Holding the grenade and dropping it on the ground is a common beginner strategy used to self boost.

This involves looking upwards and throwing a grenade in the air. The grenade should travel roughly along your current path and then fall back to the ground and explode enough behind you to give you a boost.

The tank helps as you can afford to get hit three times without dying instead of the usual "one-shot, one-kill"-scenario or if you don't like using the tank then you can use the timed mines or grenades instead to destroy the drone guns.
