Gohma

Parasitic Armoured Arachnid: Gohma is the first boss in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She lurks Inside the Deku Tree.

Speed strategy

For this method you will use Deku Sticks. These are the most powerful weapons available to you as young Link; they do twice as much damage as your Kokiri Sword. A jumping attack will double that damage figure again, yielding four times the damage of a standard Kokiri Sword swipe. However, a typical attack with a Deku Stick will also break the stick. At top speed you should only use one, however.

Wait until Gohma lands in front of you and either hurl a Deku Nut to the ground or shoot her in the eye with your Fairy Slingshot, to stun her. Pull out your Deku Stick and jump-attack her. The stick will break.

You can now continue to jump-attack with two more Deku Sticks, or you can use Power Crouch Stabs. Since the last attack you made was a jumping Deku Stick attack, your crouch stab has the power of a jumping Deku Stick attack. Two of them will see Gohma off fractionally faster than the Deku Stick way.

Note that because the Power Crouch Stab doesn't record the use of Deku Nuts, it's possible to beat Gohma without breaking a single stick. Before you look at Gohma before the battle, pull out a Deku Stick and do a jump-attack. Go ahead and start the battle and hit her with a Deku Nut. You should then get up next to her and perform three Power Crouch Stabs to finish her before she gets back up.
